When his wife fell into the ocean while they were on holiday, ex-Hawks power forward Dan Roundfield decided to do something about it. The husband rushed in but could not save her.“I said, ‘How awful,’ never thinking for a minute that that could happen to us,” Bernie said.Early news accounts out of Aruba last August were inexact or wrong and left some with the impression that Bernie and Dan had been swimming in turbulent water, courting danger. But the visual she believes best captured Dan’s essence was taken just before their last trip to Aruba and stored in her smartphone.
