I think binghamton is looked down upon because of the downtown area lacking.. but honestly, Binghamton IS an old city, it's had its time, and i think it has awesome surrounding areas that make up for the downtown area. Like any city, Binghamton has nice areas and not-so-nice areas. Everything is close by.Traffic is not a problem as most people left decades ago.If you are retirement age then it is a great place to live. There is such a high crime rate - it’s ridiculous.
