It was the best place we stayed in in our Scotland trip. A popular B&B due to its panoramic location, peaceful setting and its facilities for guests. : Requires improvement – the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve. The location was good, only a short drive from Arbroath or a pleasant walk if you enjoy walking. Five Gables is a friendly Residential Care Home for the elderly, family owned and run for over 30 years. We were welcomed into the the room by a glorious view over the golf course withe sea beyond. Massive breakfast! The sentiment was so sweet and empathetic!
A visit to Angus Archives is also a must if doing your family tree. From the moment we arrived at The Five Gables, Gary and Grace were more than hospitable. The sea views are stunning! They made six calls to find a place open for food. When we got to town we found that our original bed and breakfast had been double booked, which left us without a place to stay.

Only 3 beds available in the two adjoining family room. With our strong community links we offer quality care with a quality experience. They provide nursing, nursing with dementia and residential care for the elderly. Many thanks to Grace and Garry for a superb stay. Beautiful views of the North Sea. A unique venue as this is the only B&B in Scotland that's an old golf club.
He said to me: "Well, when you get here, I will make you a cup of tea and you can tell me all about it". I thought I would cry. Not a problem for this mother and son operated guesthouse. From the breakfast rooms the views overlooking Five Gables tiered garden and Arbroath Golf Club towards the sea are stunning.
I highly recommend Space for clothes was at a premium with full size wardrobes and plenty of drawers around the room. : Good – the service is performing well and meeting our expectations. Residents enjoy home cooked meals, made on the premises daily. The B&B is replete with considerate details; there were two umbrellas hanging in our room, a tiny flashlight hanging on the room key chain, binoculars next to the bay windows so that you might catch a glimpse of a passing seal or a bird at Grace's bird feeders, DVDs in the rooms, a large bookcase full of books on Scottish history and a refrigerator for the use of guests.
