He was taken to hospital by ambulance after the attack. He also refused to speak to the ECHO.Police believe a bogus taxi was used in last week’s gun attack, when a masked man in a blue Audi with Sefton taxi plates fired a shotgun at Mr Riley’s windscreen.Mr Riley, who was not injured, then chased the gunman’s vehicle along Kenilworth Road, Blundellsands Road East, College Road and Oxford Road before losing sight of it.The shooting was witnessed by scores of commuters waiting for a train at Blundellsands station.After the gun attack the head of Merseyside Police’s Matrix unit Chief Superintendent Tony Doherty said he believed a number of unlicensed taxi drivers were involved in organised crime and urged legitimate cabbies to identify the driver of the Audi.Mr Riley owns the successful Waterloo-based Ascot Group.In 2009 he was the victim of a spate of gun, arson and bomb attacks which targeted his Crosby home, family and business interests across Sefton.The ECHO understands the latest incident is unrelated to the problems he encountered in 2009.Mr Riley grew up in Litherland and is a former amateur boxing prodigy.
