A wasted opportunity and a great disappointment. I personally adore this new adaption of War of the Worlds.It is dark,dry, bleak, brutal and requires deep thinking to truly enjoy it. This is not your traditional H G Wells War of the Worlds with Tripodal Martians out to drink your blood. All rights reserved. Or is it a fast mechanical thing because it seems to be not that gruesome if it's close and a mechanical thing, and if it's a gun, why doesn't it use it all the time =_= also 20+ man with guns can't take out 1 dog???

This miniseries isn't quite the War Of The Worlds you're familiar with, but it does seem to be looking like a fine apocalyptic survival story... For now, it is an interesting counterpoint to the position taken in the recent BBC adaptation, and through the darker aesthetic and style is initially more interesting. Ancient Greece for kids. Air date: Mar 1, 2020 The unfolding ethical questions that the movie forces you to consider are beautiful ,painful and interesting and kept me enthralled.I am truly surprised by the plentiful low scoring reviews ,but having read them I can only conclude those viewers wanted (in fact needed) an obvious and action packed story line with brave hero's bringing hope to humanity ,plenty of giant aliens and the sort of big explosive action delivered in movies like "Independence Day" or the Tom Cruise version of "War of the Worlds". It then hit me that, a bit like those poor dying mothers-to-be, we were being slowly and painfully dragged towards the end....of the first series.

Whatever this is, it is not War of the Worlds. If the dog alien was so fearsome, how is that a 60yo+ can single bare handle it??? Having read the book and seen both films, the series had me intrigued for the first few episodes, until the plot stalled and started going in circles. The show is entertaining enough, but be warned: it's final episode wraps up so quickly, you'll think they ran out of film. Sexual attraction and spontaneous bonking didn't cut it and weren't very believable: sexual gratification must surely be pretty low on most terrified, smelly, hungry, exhausted and grieving people's Id list.
